EVE Online Weekly: March 6, 2015 Feat. CCP Fozzie

My idea for SOV revamps
We all know that CCP has long had a history of having difficulty working with the EVE codebase. Being that said codebase is hideously out of sorts, it's becoming more difficult for CCP to make the kind of sweeping changes that are desperately needed to reinvigorate the playerbase.

HERO Retakes U-Q, and other SOV News
We start off by visiting HED-GP where Pandemic Legion had some POSes (player-owned starbase) fights. A full battle report is available by clicking here.
As we can see HERO Coalition (Hopefully Effective Rookie Organization) had a Tengu/Eagle fleet lead by Blue Ice (29 Tengus, 56 Eagles, 16 Scimitars, and 14 Scythes), a TEST Ishtar gang (16 Ishtars), a bomber fleet (16 bombers), and an EWAR/tackle fleet (+120 Frigates/Interceptors including 62 Maulus). Around 267 pilots.
Pandemic Legion brought a Tengu fleet (55 Tengus, 21 Scimitars, and 4 Chimeras as support). Approximately 100 pilots.

As of this morning just after the patch hit, Phoebe Freeport Republic has claimed sovereignty
In a stunning bit of success from another EVE subreddit based idea, Phoebe Freeport Republic has claimed a system in Nullsec. Now only time will tell how quickly or slowly this implodes.
The idea finally came to fruition when the players involved heaped into WPV-JN and blasted a TCU belonging to the Absolution Alliance.
To quote the redditor who originally started this whole thing:
Battle report: We took our system under force and arms, albeit at an opportune time. In the end, we "fought" 3 dreads and 20 cruisers with some blockade runners, cloaky frigs, jita alts, half a billion isk and a hero iteron V... and somehow won. I still can't believe it. I'll write it up, or somebody else will, later.
Recruitment: Come check out http://www.reddit.com/r/PhoebeCrusadeWarRoom - it has links to our public channel, and the corp/alliance you can submit applications to.
Haters: Pretend I pasted all the comments we've received about how a newly formed group claiming sov would be impossible here. Pretend that I taunted them with clever wit. Pretend also also it's likely we'll hang onto this system for the long haul.
Diplomacy: Can somebody invite me to the really cool alliance sov holding blue donut command parties / intel channels / whatever por favor? Do I finally get to meet ~the mittani~?
[opsec]: I'm sure it'll post to Dotlan soon but otherwise I'm not drawing attention to where we are just yet :P {edit for clarity - when I made this thread, it had not posted to Dotlan yet}

Why defensive SBUs are important!
In what can only be described as an attempt at trolling in EVE, Fatal Ascension somehow forgot to online SBUs in a staging system to slow down a SOV offensive from their enemies. As a result, some TEST members were able to essentially sneak in and attempt to online an SBU, forcing FA to destroy said SBU.
The system of 6VDT-H is well known for being one of the final battles of the now infamous "Fountain War". In which nearly every major nullsec alliance were involved in blowing each others shit up. And during this time, FA were able to gain SOV over the system from TEST.
The resulting slapfight between elements of HERO and the CFC only destroyed about 2 Billion ISK in assets, and was very much a rout for HERO. But as there was essentially zero point to this move beyond hilarity for possibly drunken pilots, I'd say it was more than worth it.
In all likely hood this will just pass by without any wider repercussions, but one can hope for this being the catalyst for other chicanery throughout CFC space. /sarcasm.
