Pandemic Legion Kills Rare Super

This morning one of the rarest ships in EVE, a Revenant, died at the hands of Pandemic Legion.
The ship was piloted by Ingeneer of Prelium Ultima alliance who are primarily seen around Impass, as shown by the loss taking place in the system of 6E-MOW. The story started earlier this week, when PL noticed the Revenant initially assigning fighters to his Archon, which he would then use to kill enemies roaming around in his system. Last night he was back at it again, but this time camping the Thera WH entrance in his system.

New Ship Skins for various ships apparently leaked

Caprisunkraftfoods on Reddit has linked a massive list of leaked skins.

I’m particularly partial to the amazing Khanid & Sarum Amarrian ship skins, while some of the other races’ ships are quite lackluster. Take the Aeon skins for example; both of these are things I could see myself getting.

The o7 Show, Swinging The Nerf Bat, and UI Changes

The o7 show was aired this evening at 2000 Eve time and there were some great announcements and some really interesting stuff on show in CCP’s flagship live dev blog. In the following article we will run through the main announcements that were featured.

CCP Increases All Trial Periods for EVE to 30 Days

CCP has increased the free trial period for EVE Online to 30 days, effective immediately.

While historically the free trial period has been 14 days, CCP has decided that it is now feasible to raise that. CCP has experimented with longer trial periods in the past, such as when the Buddy invite program was increased to 30 days from 21 days.

If you haven’t tried EVE Online yet, you can sign up for a free trial here.

PL loses Station Timer and Super to HERO in F4R2-Q

In the early morning of the 24th February 2015 the station timer for F4R2-Q came out of reinforced and Pandemic Legion, as with any timer they are determined to win, dropped their super-capital fleet to ensure the strategic victory.

In all Pandemic Legion dropped 10 of their super-carriers along with around 45 Archon carriers.
Brave Collective, who own the station and the rest of their HERO coalition friendlies, formed up around 250 pilots in a wide array of ship types, including a 50 man Tengu strategic cruiser fleet and a 30 man Eagle fleet.

Rogue Spaceship Samurai Director drops SOV in system, and resets HERO standings

Throughout the history of the game, there are a huge amount of tales and cautionary stories about how trust placed in an individual member can lead to the collapse and dissolution of an alliance. Band of Brothers, GoonSwarm, and dozens of others have been dissolved from the inside by directors who have betrayed what their organization stood for, changing the road ahead for hundreds if not thousands of players.

As PL and HERO continue their de facto war in Catch, the seemingly lax leadership security of HERO member Spaceship Samurai has come back to bite them in the ass again, this time in the form of the third major SOV incident in recent memory.

PL/NC. Skirmish with HERO over 3gd6-8 Station Armor Timer, Oh...and HERO Kills a Wyvern

At around 0:00 EVE Time, the 3GD6-8 Station was due to come out of reinforce as the final fight in the system between PL and HERO.  If HERO failed to rep the station and reset the timer, they would lose the system to PL.  As a result the amount of response to CTAs from HERO was staggering.  With multiple fleets being maxed at 250 pilots.  HERO brought a mainline DPS fleet comprised of Tengus and Eagles.  With a secondary Ishtar fleet in support.  This was of course furher supported by a massive 200 man EWAR fleet of mostly Crucifiers, themselves having "Rushcat" fit interceptors in support for ECM bursts.

The main objective for HERO was clear, they had to rep the station.  To that end, the main fleet was to hold the line against the enemy long enough for the Carriers to get on grid and rep the station.  As the timer drew closer to expiring, HERO intel flooded in that in addition to the slowcats and supers PL is known for, the TFI fleet used in the last fight would make a return.  The last IHub fight went poorly for these TFIs, who were a victim of their own success and lost a large amount of ships to HERO.

SaraShawa Overview Pack v7.1 Released

Quick post, Overview pack v7.1, Tiamat update, is released. Adds drifter battleships, and fixes a bug with the PVE Mining preset. v8 will be a major release, so this is just a quick stopgap.

As always, it's available 2 ways: in the MOTD of the channel "SaraShawa-Overview" ingame, or from the mailing list "Overview" (no quotes)

Personally, I recommend the mailing list - you'll get direct mails on an ongoing basis when the pack is updated.

In this week's Meta Show Mittani, Nystrik, and Laz talk about a range of topics relating to Eve Online, from Fanfest, the sovereignty redesign, and current happenings in nullsec.

HERO and Pandemic Legion Brawl Over IHub Armor Timer, PL loses Subcap Fleet

As PL moves into 3GD6-8 to claim the system as a staging system. HERO tries it's best to resist and hold the system.  The first two timers for the IHub and Station went the same way.  Pandemic Legion countered the traditionally large HERO fleets with a large number of caps and supercaps.  The first Armor timer for the system on the IHub saw a TFI fleet brought in by PL countered an around 300 strong HERO fleet.  The main crux of the Mixed TFI/T3 fleet was expected.  As the attitude about the past two fights  with Pl dropping escalations doctrines on HERO left both sides wanting to brawl.

Triggers, Drama, Offensive Jokes, and EVE Online

EVE is a game not for the light of heart.  It's a frankly obsessive game for the kind of people who enjoy extreme difficulty, crushing boredom, and screeching terror all in one game.  And there's a common sentiment that more offensive happenings or drama within the community should be in a sense ignored.  Or that people taking issue with whatever the problem may be should "Harden The Fuck Up".

Normally, people refrain from bringing personal politics or beliefs into EVE.  This is usually a good idea.  But as someone who considers themselves a decent person, and as a feminist I just can't sit by and watch.

(Yea I know, being a feminist online, I'm now a Tumblr-addicted SJW with no capacity for critical thinking. etc.)

I see a big disconnect between reality and the EVE community forming once again.  This issue has long been a part of the "culture" of the internet, long before EVE.  In a game that has a massive skew towards the number of male players, it's almost become second-nature for eve players to act like insensitive asshats, who enjoy the hazing or belittling of others.  I would say there is a definite line in terms of where in-game culture and indecency are separated.  It seems some players are content with resting on the wrong side of that line.

[The Scope] Drifters

“The Scope” program from Galactic News Network (CCP’s ingame creation to release official news), has a new video out, this time on Drifters. It does confirm, for the record, that Caroline’s Star did in fact originate in Jove space.

The majority of the video covers the new NPC faction, Drifters, that have been released in EVE’s last expansion.

[DEV BLOG] The New Player Experience

Seasoned Veterans of New Eden – Hello

CCP Rise here for EVE’s Team Pirate Unicorns to give you a heads up about some changes to the new player experience (NPE for short) that are about to sneak their way onto Tranquility.

HISTORY

As many of you remember, the first few days in New Eden can be some of the most difficult, and it’s been a mission at CCP for a very long time to try and improve the experience for new bros. The tutorial has undergone several major reworks over the years and we also constantly strive to make EVE’s core systems more intuitive and usable without sacrificing sophistication. Despite all that, we still feel there’s room for improvement, especially when it comes to the tutorial itself.

Over a year ago, our team took on the mission to overhaul the NPE and since then you’ve seen us establish some systems we felt were needed to make our vision for new players possible. First, we added and tweaked a lot of tooltips covering the major interface elements and features and then we installed a new notification system to improve feedback and give us a better way to deliver information to new players. Most recently we began work overhauling the star map. With all these pieces in place (or at least getting close to where we want them to end up) we’ve finally been able to really dig in to a system that we hope will eventually completely replace the current tutorial:

EVE-LOTTERIES Launched!

A new EVE gambling site has hit New Eden.  And along with it, another opportunity for capsuleers to make mountains of ISK!

Just like many other gambling sites for EVE, the bet way to make ISK is to use the referrals system.  5% of all your referrals deposits are credited back to you as a reward.  So getting those refs is the quickest way to make ISK, then you can even spin that ISK by betting ISK on tickets for raffles.

You also get 10M ISK free by registering with the link on this post, or from the link in the top navigation bar.

When you play at EVE Lotteries, you also earn Points automatically. These points can be used in Super Lotteries to win prizes.  Users can also start their own lotteries from a selection of templates so the most desirable items will come on raffle more often.

Phoebe Freeport Republic And Gorgon Empire Clash

[Disclaimer: The author of this piece is the Head Diplomat for Phoebe Freeport Republic]

For the last couple of weeks rising tensions between Rebel Alliance of New Eden [RANE] /The Gorgon Empire [-GE-] and Phoebe Freeport Republic [PFR] has led to increasing escalations of action. Initially, it was a case of a few blops drops on ratters here and there however when [RANE] RF’d several of [PFR]’s R32s it caused a noticeable spike in hostilities. In reaction to this [PFR] reinforced/destroyed a number of [RANE] POSes in Wicked Creek’s 5Y1E-3 constellation, in particular the system of M-MBRT. One of the POSes RF’d was a R64 belonging to [-GE-]. The R64 was a personal moon belonging to one of Gorgon Empire’s leaders; White Don, so [PFR] expected little to no organized resistance from Gorgon, who would have to burn from Curse to defend the moon.

EVE Online Tiamat Patch Notes Released

Tiamat will be released on February 17, and CCP has released the patch notes for the latest release of EVE Online. Key features in this release include the ability for corporations to choose if a CONCORD response will be triggered by intra-corp aggression, and the Minmatar T3 Tactical Destroyer: the Svipul.

Tiamat will also see an appearance of a new faction in New Eden - the Drifters. While details have been vague, their appearance following the Circadian Sleepers' arrival appears to be connected. Bits and pieces of Drifter related content have been discovered on Singularity, the public facing test server, in addition to being hinted at by way of The Scope news videos. Other changes include a rebalancing of projectile weapons, new sound effects, graphical upgrades, and UI improvements. For further details on the release, check out the official Community site for Tiamat.

The Scope: Shattered Planets

Another video from “The Scope” program from GNN (CCP’s in-game, in-character news service), reveals theories on the current back story. This time the report is on shattered wormholes, Sisters of EVE, and the numerous wormhole theories out there.

Notice the news crawl at the bottom delivers additional news around New Eden, including the Gallente Presidential election results.

The Previous report covered the  “Caroline’s Star” phenomenon, found here: Link.

CCP highlights player contributions (in-character) by putting the spotlight on players that discover the threads of storyline laid out by CCP. Some of the “scholars” investigating the back-story (pictured at the end of the video) are the same players that appear on the Hydrostatic Podcast Lore Panels:  Ashterothi, Mark726, Morwen Lagann, Tarek Raimo, Anslo, Uriel Paradisi Antevnuecci, Lockefox, Phyridean, and Rhavas.

Hi! I’m CCP Punkturis and on behalf of Team Five 0 I want to tell you about some of the changes related to corporations that we’ve been working on for Tiamat, which will be released on February 17, 2015!

We know the effort and time that CEOs and directors spend on managing their corporations is very valuable, and we want to make things easier for them. That’s why we went to the forums and asked for your "corp little things". A lot of good ideas surfaced and we tried to prioritize targeting them and hope you’ll like the things we’re bringing you this time.

BRAVE Rats in GE-8 in a Moros and brawls LAZERHAWKS

Around 5:00 EVE time, GE-8JV stood down initially from engaging both GSF and Provi fleets with frig roams.  The fleet chased around V-3 and GE-8 a group of GSF Harpies and the like.  As the FC of that fleet logged, the defense fleet decided to rat in GE-8 on a random anom.

This decision was very quickly turned on it's head by LazerHawks,  As one Brave member had the balls of steel to run the site with the fleet, who was mostly flying frigs and cruisers, in his freaking Moros.  This was also with a well-known bombing multiboxer harassing them all night.
