How to Safely Dock with Instant Dock Bookmark
In this video you will learn how to safely dock using an instant dock bookmark. An instant dock bookmark allows you to instantly dock in a station without risking your ship or cargo during the docking perimeter approach of a typical warp-in. This is beneficial to those who do not wish to be attacked, ship scanned, or cargo scanned while docking in a station. An instant dock should be created for all stations you frequent,

Dev post: [Proteus - January] Recon ships
Hello again o/
Finally, finally, Recons. I know you guys have been asking for a long time now so even though timing was pretty tight with vacations coming up I want to get this class in for January.
We had a few big goals with Recons:
Give Combat Recons something to make them stand out as a unique and interesting set of ships
Close the gap somewhat between Recons and T3 Cruisers, though this will also be a goal during the T3 Cruiser rebalance
Align Recons around ship developer trends established in other classes (Roden Lachesis should not use missiles for example)
Address any other general balance issues or pain points (hello Pilgrim)

EVE Online Economics Part 2 The Post ISBoxer World of New Eden
--Read Part 1 Here--
What ISBoxer brings to mind |
Coming off my post about EVE Online Economics and the pursuit of fun, there's been some changes to the way CCP views input broadcasting, an often important part of the process of "multiboxing". That is to say, running multiple clients on effectively the same machine and using software to push inputs from a single keyboard and mouse to dozens of clients at once. CCP has flatout banned the practice of input broadcasting. Now this will not stop the more complex multioboxers. But it will have some effect.
Multiboxing has always been a somewhat difficult to understand practice. As the players who did it typically have other motivations besides enjoying the game. Aside from outliers, there is a stigma that many multiboxers are allegedly engaged in RMT (trading in game assets for real money). This accusation however is not the subject of this post.
There have been no serious attempts by the EVE community to gather data on these multiboxing players, and not many of them come forth willingly and admit they do it.

EVE Online Economics And Game Design
The depth and scale of the EVE Online economy often sees it touted as the most interesting and robust economy in all of gaming. When considered along with the rest of the game and it's hyper-competitive nature, the realization of just how complex the economics of internet spaceships can be becomes clear. Even in a wider audience when the discussion of EVE's economics plays like a one-note band.
The type of emergent gameplay that CCP has spent the last decade building into the EVE experience is reflected in its economy more than anything. With almost everything in the game being partially produced by players, there is no doubt that the economy is as much about the transfer of wealth and assets; as it is as much about player interaction. Every day, traders, resources gathering operations, manufacturing, and out-of-game services all have some impact on the game and it's players. The nature of the best is best conveyed in broad terms when talking to a wider audience which is what I'll attempt to do here.
I am of course no economist myself, so I will focus mostly on socio-economic aspects rather than econometric analysis, neither is this intended as a guide for industrialists or traders. Instead, this discussion of the EVE economy can offer some insight to readers of all playstyles.

Dev Blog: Happy Holidays From CCP!
Once again it’s that time of the year and holiday season is upon us!
As 2014 draws to a close, a look back over the events of the previous twelve months makes it very easy to see that this has been another amazing year for the EVE community.
From the surprise success of The Camel Empire in Alliance Tournament XII (and their beautiful EVE TV advertisements), to the immortalization of a renowned piece of EVE history as the first volume of EVE: True Stories, the colossal Bloodbath of B-R5RB, Warlords of the Deep taking the New Eden Open II champion’s trophy and an ongoing series of large scale battles in HED-GP throughout the year, 2014 has been memorable for capsuleers across the cluster.
However, the last year hasn’t been all about destruction. Ending 2013 on a high note after the EVE community raised a staggering amount for the Icelandic Red Cross, this year has been a year of change for both EVE and the Community.

Dev Post: Introducing the three ships of Fanfest 2015
Greetings thirsty space friends near and far,
Negotiations between CCP and the Quafe Company regarding sponsorship for EVE Fanfest 2015 have reached a conclusion and our friends at Quafe headquarters have committed to a tribute of three branded ship skins for each capsuleer attending the annual gathering.
The ships, coming your way in the form of single-run blueprint copies, all hail from Gallente Federation shipyards and should be well known to drone warfare specialists.
The Quafe Tristan, Quafe Vexor, and Quafe Dominix will be distributed separately through the redeeming system in the months leading up to Fanfest, starting with the Quafe Tristan on January 15. The Quafe Vexor will arrive on February 11 and the Quafe Dominix warps in on February 27 so all three ships will be in your hands before Fanfest.
The ships will be delivered to existing ticket holders on these dates, and upon Fanfest ticket purchase after that, until sales of Fanfest tickets cease.
All three ships are free and time-exclusive for Fanfest attendees but will be made available through other means around Fanfest time to those who can’t attend the glorious event in person – more on that later.
Let us toast to the amazing Fanfest to come by raising our bottles of Quafe!

[DEV BLOG] Download on Demand client for EVE Online
Sometime early next year we will change the way we deploy the EVE Online client. The primary driver for this change is to get people into the game quicker – both new players, downloading a trial for the first time and existing players patching after major updates. We're moving away from having resources packed into the stuff files in the EVE installation folder, to downloading individual resources on demand. There are many implications to this change, but rest assured –that none of this will be deployed until we have full confidence in our new deployment method and are sure it will not disrupt your gameplay experience in EVE.

Freeport 1 CT8K-0 Falls Despite 3 to 1 Advantage
A combined force of nearly 400 pilots, mostly from PFR and HERO fell to a less than 200-man BOT/RUS fleet. This comes after what would be considered a win for the PFR from claiming part of the Scalding Pass region. On December 15, Phoebe Freeport Republic has liberated the last outpost in Scalding Pass belonging to N3 - 4-CM8I, which is now PFR’s Freeport 2. The other 11 outposts were captured by their like-minded allies The Gorgon Empire. The new owners do not want to repeat N3’s mistakes and hold a different approach to their SOV.
All 12 outposts in Scalding Pass are, as of now, freeports - the docking fee is removed, and all services are available to anyone. The Gorgon Empire has claimed that anyone willing to settle in the region will be granted a limited NAP with them which applies to POS, sovereignty structures and fleets that are formed to defend sov or to grind the remaining N3 systems.

CFC Vs. N3 in WY-9LL
Yesterday, Northern Coalition. (NCdot) successfully tackled a group of Clusterfuck Coalition (CFC) dreads in WY-9LL, who were trying to reinforce a POS. The initial tackle of NCdot was done by a group interdictors but not long after, the main NCdot fleet, consisting of proteus strategic cruisers, entered the field.
CFC already had an armor doctrine Battleship fleet ready to rumble if things went south for their dreadnaughts and they also entered the field, and so the fight started. Darkeshi (DARKNESS. and The Kadeshi broliance) showed up in their Legion strategic cruiser doctrine, making the fight for the CFC even tougher.
CFC chose to primary the N3 logistic cruisers and this proved to be the best choice they could have made, as they were able to claim victory as the combined N3 forces quit the field. CFC also won the fight based on ISK destroyed.

Russians begin a new war against one another
Russian aggression between the various RUS alliances and coalitions reached a high point compared to the relative quiet nature in the post-Halooween war era of EVE.. With Legion of xXDEATHXx being the primary target of a SOLAR FLEET led incursion. SOLAR FLEET has many potential allies such as Black Legion and various Russian entities. While xXDEATHXx traditionally has PL and NC. as backup, there was no firm commitment by these groups to defend xXDEATHXx SOV. It can be expected however that PL and NC. will join in opportunistic fighting.
The initial attack by SOLAR on xXDEATHXx's capital system was halted but now they're moving in again, this time with support from Gorgon, RED, Dream Fleet, and others.

SaraShawa Overview Pack v7 - Rhea Edition
Hi hello, as many of you now know I maintain an overview pack. I've updated it for Rhea, and it is once again available ingame, as well as via direct download (if you prefer the legacy install option, or want to edit it yourself.)
For people looking for more explanation, here's a link to v6 thread. I'm tired of duplicating the giant post every time, so I'm gonna do these more conversational updates going forward.
To access the pack, join the "SaraShawa-Overview" channel ingame, and read the MOTD.
The pack has been updated, check this reddit post for details:

CCP Greyscale Leaves CCP
In a shocking revelation, CCP Games developer Matt Woodward, known as “CCP Greyscale” in EvE circles, has left Reykjavik and is no longer an employee of CCP. This could be a huge blow to both CCP and the EvE universe in general.
Matt Woodward has always been a highly polarising figure at CCP and in his seven years of employment has been involved in a number of projects that made him both the bad guy and the good guy, depending on who you speak to. Most recently, he was instrumental in developing the Phoebe release. Most prominently, he designed the jump range travel changes that were greeted with open arms by some and petitioned against by others. Introducing literally game-changing features was one of the jobs that Matt Woodward most enjoyed while employed by CCP.

Dev Blog: Physical Based Rendering and making EVE look “Real”
The Old Problem
The fundamental question of any CGI programmer is: “What color is a given pixel on screen?” The more accurately the programmer answers that question, the higher the quality of the final picture. The essential tools for coming up with an accurate answer are of course real world physics and math. However, finding an exact formula that describes how the real world around us looks is impossible–at least with our current understanding of nature. So what do we do in CGI? We simplify! And we have to because, at least in computer games, the images we need to calculate must be delivered in real time to fervent players desperately eager to watch “realistically” imaged spaceships explode. In such an environment, we must simplify for efficiency while maintaining as much of the realistic math as possible.

HERO Put F4R2-Q Station Into Armor After Skirmishes with Pandemic Legion
After losing the system earlier in the month, HERO and it's allies have launched an offensive against the PL controlled station. Putting it into Reinforced mode after a series of skirmishes in both F4R2-Q and ZXIC-7.
Pandemic Legion forces in Catch largely stage out of the system of 1P-WGB next door to F4R2-Q. This gives them an ability to respond quickly with assets to hold the string of systems in Catch which they hold currently. Although their limited presence in Catch does mean that HERO and it's massive subcap numbers could turn the tide in the ongoing conflict.
HERO suffered a serious loss in the major battle a few days ago in GED-GP. And looking for some payback, put a strategic force of HERO subcaps backed by a small group of allies in various subcaps. The majority of the HERO and allied forces were flying T1 Cruisers with a mix of Logi. Pandemic Legion flew a combination of T3s and Ishtars. HERO and allies had a 2:1 advantage which most certainly helped them hold the field long enough to push the station into the timer.
The battle began when HERO forces had assaulted the station and were caught mid op by the PL response fleet. PL came into the system unopposed and warped in at optimal to the station. Starting to slowly whittle away at the HERO ships.
The battle started to turn in HERO's favor when the Scimitars supporting PL were primaried and started to be destroyed, most of which were wiped out in short order. PL then attempted to turn the tide by bringin in a small fleet of Purifiers. But due to a miscommunication by the FCs leading the bomb run, most of the PL bombers came out into the wrong position on field, and were quickly locked and destroyed by HERO combined fire.
The bomb run did however serve to destroy a portion of HERO and others Logi and Tacklers on field. Meaning that PL was able to begin withdrawing without much trouble after the timer was engaged. Which is what happened only a short time after the loss of the bombers.
All told, around 21 Billion ISK in assets was destroyed. We shall see how the rest of the battle plays out in the next 24 hours.

As PL withdrew, HERO decided to give chase, eventually catching PL in the nearby system of ZXIC-7. HERO and allies were able to engage for a time, but the loss of significant numbers of Logi and other fleet support meant the second engagement was short lived. All told, around 21 Billion ISK in assets was destroyed. We shall see how the rest of the battle plays out in the next 24 hours.

CCP Planning to Remove Industry Teams
On December 4th, CCP RubberBAND took to the official EVE Online forums to announce tentative plans to first remove seeding of industry teams by the end of the month, then disable the UI features relating to industry teams in early 2015. The feature, added to the game as part of the July 22nd Crius patch, apparently flopped in the industrial community. According to RubberBAND's post, the use of industry teams in manufacturing has never exceeded 10% of all jobs completed and their use was nearly nonexistant in research jobs. The removal of an unsuccessful feature from the game is unusual in EVE Online, a fact that RubberBAND acknowledged by calling the decision "a fairly unprecedented course of action for us." However, CCP views the current implementation of industry teams as an addition of the "wrong type of complexity" to the game. That's not to say that industry teams as a concept are off the table; RubberBAND made it clear that more time will be spent at a future date to rework the idea into something that adds a more significant value to EVE Online.
Reactions to the announcement have been fairly supportive; many responders in the forum thread acknowledged that the idea of industry teams is appealing, but various aspects of the current implementation - be it the auction aspect of getting teams, the lack of signficiant bonuses, or the need for specialization - have been found wanting by the community. Some, though, question whether the removal of the feature is necessary. Though undoubtedly a low number in the grand scheme of things, there are those who use and enjoy the feature even in their current implementation. There certainly wouldn't be much downside to leaving the feature in the game in its current form until it can be reworked. Either way, it will be some time before the feature sees any substantive work done to it, as CCP continues to grapple with their plans for revamping nullsec through the next few patch cycles.

D00M merges with Burning Napalm
Just a moment ago, Vince Draken, CEO of Northern Coalition made the announcement his corp, D00M., is merging with Burning Napalm.
From: Vince DrakenD00M. was formed in 2005 by a player called Darknesss who we know from his third party services. Years later, Vince Draken took over and formed Northern Coalition. Check out this page for more information on NCDOT and DOOM.
Sent: 2014.12.05 21:29
To: Northern Coalition.,
Good Evening D00M.
It is with regreat over the last few months it has come to be more evident that we as a corp do not have the leadership activity to properly run D00M. in the way it needs to be. Eve is a social game and we feel that we are at a point that things need to change. It has been a great run over the years but the time has come to put the horse out to pasture. D00M. will be going into hibernation and active members are being merged into Sm3ll. If you have any questions mail me (quesa).
I will be following you all over to SM3LL so i hope everyone thats stuck by me for the past 5 years leading this corp will understand why im doing this.
My attention needs to be on the Alliance i dont have time for both nothing will change over there other than its Whites name above the door and he and his team will provide you all with a better online experience.
Please make sure you take care in transfering corps and remember you DONT need to drop corp to do this once your roles are gone just apply to SM3LL.
D00M will not be leaving NC. and for now will remain in hibernation and used for “other” tasks.
Thank you all for your support
-Vince

CFC Pushes NC. out of Y-2ANO
With the station flipping in LBGI-2, N3 got a foothold in Fountain. It was a psychological victory as the station is not being used as a new forward operating base, continuing to stage out of Delve (M2-XFE) instead. NCdot planted a tower in Y-2ANO and staged their supercarriers there. This would be NCdot’s iron club to bash down CFC infrastructure in Fountain.
The CFC got wind of this and targeted the tower for destruction. They titan-bridged their battleship fleet: Dominix-class battleships with a few special Amarr Navy Apocalypse (NaPocs) to augment DPS. The Dominix is a Gallente battleship that specializes in a heavy armor tank and vast drone bay. The large tanks keep the ships operable giving time for their drones to do their work.
The CFC deployed their drones and waited. Hundreds of sentry drones surveyed the dark space surrounding them. They aimed at the tower and went to work bashing it down. Destroying this tower would leave NCdot supercarrier pilots vulnerable to attack once they logged on and auto-warped back to a foreign tower that would repel their entry. CFC would watch this location close and immediately trap any supercarrier bouncing off the large force field of the tower.

PL And HERO Brawl over Final HED-GP Timer
The battle over the final timer for the HED-GP IHUB that was coming out of reinforced, PL was ready, as was HERO. HERO was able to set dozens of bubbles on field around the PL forces as they landed on gird. Locking them down so the HERO caps and their massive subcap force could engage.
The initial PL force was comprised mostly of Navy Apocs and triage carriers. The typical large numbers of subcaps fielded by HERO brought overwhelming force against PL, meaning they lost several triage carriers and had to try and withdraw to reorganize for a short time. Especially after losing nearly 50 Navy Apocs.

[DEV BLOG] Starmap Impovements - A Map To Treasure
Completed south polar sweep, concluding first survey of the eighth planet. All told this is a fine example of a temperate body and should make a good colonization target. The Sanctuary planners were hoping for a stable terrestrial, with surface conditions a secondary consideration. A barren or even an ice planet would have been viable. The working plan calls for an underground colony regardless. I've made sure to prioritize initial processing and flagging of the geological data while surveying this planet.

BRAVE SOTA by lychton
Brave Collective,
This SOTA is going to be a little different than previously conducted. I want to take this brief time to not only get everyone up to speed, but to also address the newest class of newbies that have arrived on our doorstep and into the fold of the Brave Collective. I have divided this SOTA into three parts. Forgive me if the narrative is a little disjointed, but it’s necessary to convey the point.
CURRENT STATE
A little bit less than two weeks ago, CCP released the now iconic video entitled, This is Eve. The video was widely accepted within the Eve community and beyond, creating a tidal wave of new players in numbers not seen since Asakai or B-R5RB. Seeking to capitalize on these new players, Brave leadership took action across the Universe. We subbed trial accounts to help newbies get through the tutorial. We ran fleets through the trade hubs of Amarr, Dodixie, Rens, and Jita. We lifted our anti-spy requirements to accept the hordes of newbies into our loving fold. All in all, the Collective has processed somewhere between 1700-2000 applications. Granted, there are a lot of spies in that number, but whatever, we have never been that good about keeping ppl out.
We currently stand at 12,380 members, and according to evewho, are the largest Alliance in New Eden. And with that booming number, I can say that the current state of the alliance is outstanding.
We run on newbie mojo, as BNI, and subsequently BRAVE was founded in the principles of having fun, learning stuff, and killing things often. Even now as a member of the HERO Coalition, (the best damn coalition in the game), we are still basically the hyperactive kid on the playground hugging everything to death. We have Brave Dojo fleets around the clock, small fun/drunk roams, classes, fleets to rescue newbies out of wormholes, you name it. This new Class of newbies is fantastic, because we as an alliance have found our inherent calling by helping our fellow pilots grow in between major timers and fun fleets. This change in what we do with our downtime is awesome, and it shows.
PREVIOUSLY IN BRAVE COLLECTIVE
Now, the past month or so has been significant, but not in the normal BRAVE way. CCP had announce major changes to the way the denizens of New Eden have traditionally been able to move around, or force project, across the galaxy. This created a ripple effect that made everyone go nuts. Sovereignty fell in certain areas, alliances prestaged in others, loyalties were severed, and new relationships formed. To that end, we said goodbye to our friends at Almost Awesome, and FOX.HOUND, and watched them journey on to follow their content. Brave, along with the rest of the HERO Coalition, remained in place, much to the mockery of armchair quarterbacks, unsubscribed fleet commanders, and biased space journalists.
But we stayed committed to HERO and Catch. And with good reason. Brave was winding down our skirmish with Providence for the northern border systems in Catch. We were not making any real headway, and playing ping pong for systems ends up being more tedious than not. Coupled this back-and-forth, along with the possibility of being exposed at two fronts once PHOEBE released, the Coalition agreed to end the dispute with Provi Bloc and give our fc’s a little bit of breathing room before the release.
But in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Our friendly third party folks from the previous skirmish also had decided to wait for a bit Post Phoebe and see what everyone else is getting into before making their next move. And found they found a nice supply of content in us. Over the past month or so, we’ve been playing with our new frenemies and somewhat neighbors, as they seized a foothold in the eastern portion of Catch. They’ve headshotted our systems, reinforced poses, destroyed jump bridges, giving us a crash course in “howthefucktowedefendourselves?” But we’ve stayed BRAVE, and we are still here.
MOVING Forward
As our Newbies transition themselves from trial account members to full fledged bravelings, we will always ensure that we take care of them. Just like how we took care of ourselves in Hek, Rahadalon, Barleguet. How we huddled in 9-GYLO, trudged through the Winter War against Usurper, and stayed alive in Sendaya. This is how we accidentally a SOV from darkness, and proved that Burnination is a thing by destroying an infrastructure HUB with 315 Kestrels.
Each wave of newbie that comes in adds a layer of strength to our organization. From ewar/tackle frigs, to cruisers, to t2 cruisers, logi, battleships, t3s, to carriers, dreads and even like 1 titan I think, it’s clearto see that we are a growing force in new eden. We are a big ball of pilots that recognize the true power of the newbie, the newbie that lives in all of us. Make no mistake, we are an alliance of trial and tribulation. But we come out of that fire as steely-eyed bitternewbs, always ready for the next step.
We anticipate to be fighting our friends here in catch for the forseeable future. Brave Military and Diplomacy teams are working on further strengthening our bond with the rest of the coalition and streamlining the way we conduct operations, as members of our alliance, and as a partner to HERO. Our adversaries are getting their kicks, just the same as we are, but I truly believe that we are getting the better end of the deal. We are learning a metric shitton, and are becoming better at stuff, even if it doesn’t seem like it at times.
Our Support Staff, including our IT team, Dojo, Recruiters, Industrialists, Marketeers, Buybackers, Propagandists, I want to also give you a salute for being the purring engine within Brave, keeping everything running smoothly. Keep up the good work by supplying the line members with ships, ammo, services, and knowledge. We are only as strong as what we undock and die with, and I cannot emphasize how important we are to each other. The alliance is colossal and the upkeep required is significant.
Now, the next release is coming on December 9th, and RHEA looks to be unlocking some really cool opportunities. Yes, we will go play in Thera. Yes, we will take out silly roams and form for stratops per usual. But there is one thing that we are also going to do. We are keeping an eye out for January. The release after Rhea is expected to change the fundamental nature of SOV mechanics and how this null-sec game is played. This is the sound of war that we are waiting for.
The next SOTA will not be a SOTA, but a SOTC for HERO Coalition. Once we understand what the hell is coming down the pipe, and we have a plan for it, we will relay this info to everyone. I cannot say whether or not we stay in Catch come 2015, but I can say that whatever BRAVE does, it will be as a coalition level measured response to the coming changes. Awwww yesss.
So, take this time to make your isk. Use your time to train up this beautiful batch of newbies. Let’s use this time to become better pilots in whatever role we assume for fights. Let’s stay classy and cheerfully give our enemies a gf and 70 in local, like the cute, rabid little fuckers we are. And lastly, remember that being Brave is more than being in a spaceship, living in a certain area, shitting up our defense comms.
Brave is about three things unity, bourbon, and marching to the sound of war.

Hello Capsuleers!

Hello Capsuleers!
CCP Terminus here to talk to you about the changes coming to medical clones in Rhea on December 9th.
The Current Medical Clone System
When a players capsule (known colloquially as a pod) is destroyed, their clone is killed, leaving behind a frozen corpse floating through space. Upon reviving in a new clone in a space station, the pilot must then upgrade their medical clones grade to cover the amount of skillpoints they have accrued though skill training. If that player fails to do so and is podded again, they will lose skillpoints if their clone grade isnt high enough.

This thread is for feedback and issue reporting on a small change team Five 0 have done for Rhea to the way joining a corporation works.
Until this change the process for joining a Corporation has been as follows:
1. Character applies to corporation.
2. A corp member with appropriate roles invites player to join.
3. Character accepts invite.
4. The Character is entered into the corp.
With this change implemented the above functionality still applies but a second method is now available:
1. A corp member with appropriate roles invites player to join.
2. Character accepts invite.
3. The Character is entered into the corp.

HERO and PL brawl in HED-GP
As HERO and PL continue their ongoing skirmishes in Catch, another blow had been struck against HERO. PL has used its Supercapital superiority to capture the systems of U-QVWD, 1P-WGB, and after a spectacular battle F4R2-Q. It would seem that HERO is steadily losing ground to the seemingly insurmountable foe of PL. The dire situation was usually balanced out by HERO's ability to field larger numbers in their fleets, but the supercap aggression of PL looks to be unstoppable.
